Formed by singer Victoria Ruiz and guitarist Joey La Neve DeFrancesco in 2011, Downtown Boys is a committed, activist five-piece punk band from Providence, Rhode Island. Joe DeGeorge (sax and keyboards), Norlan Olivo (drums) and Mary Regalado (bass) complete the original line-up, offering fierce yet joyful punk rock.

Overflowing energy, frenzied rhythms that could set off a pogo frenzy on any dance floor, screaming saxophones, a "hymn of warm, luminous tones" with the allure of election campaigns - in short, a sweet mix that perfectly reflects the desire to make music dedicated to social and political change, a common thread running through the various creations of the Downtown Boys band right from the start.

Downtown Boys released a ten-song self-titled first EP in June 2012. Their first full-length album, Full Communism, was released in May 2015. Cost of Living is their third album. In 2020, Downtown Boys took part in the creation of the soundtrack for the film Miss Marx, a biopic presented at the Venice International Film Festival. The complete soundtrack, a collaboration with Gatto Ciliega Contre II Grande Freddo, has been available on streaming platforms since June 2021.
The group also performs the famous track "L’internationale". Downtown Boys recorded this version as "an ode to global struggle and passion for a freedom greater than themselves."
